Sadie had found the diary many weeks ago, and that had led her to an encounter with one of the Graas family. Now she once again had the journal in hand and had actually made it out to the grounds, and almost to the forbidden forest with no mishaps. She still wasn’t sure if she wanted to know what secrets the book might hold, but her curiosity was beginning to take over the rest of her. Spreading the blanket that she had brought with her as not to have to sit on the hard, itchy grass, Sadie watched the book as if it were supposed to do some type of trick. Sadie knew better than that. If the book had been charmed to do anything harmful or magical it would have already done so after it was found. The only thing the book seemed to have done was to have caused her to literally pummel over Gabriel on her way to the Great Hall that mysterious morning that it had been found. She really wondered about the sassiness that came out of her that day, it was so unlike her. But that had been done and there was no turning back now. She just had to move on and try to figure out why her mother would have kept this book a secret all of these years.
Making herself comfortable on the blanket, Sadie began with her legs folded under her, elbows in her lap and book in hand. She wasn’t sure how long she would stay like this as most of the time when she read, she laid flat on her stomach. This was just too intriguing for that position. This book contained secrets that Sadie had not known ever existed. Looking first over the cover of the book, Sadie gently brushed her hand over the soft white leather binding, as if she were wiping dust off of a bone. She looked for any type of inscription on the front of the book and only found the word ‘Journal’ etched into it. The journal wasn’t fancy, it didn’t have a lock like most, but it was something private none the less. Thoughts began to rush into Sadie’s mind as she continued to investigate and study the outside of the book. Is there anything in here my dad didn’t know? What could have been so important that she kept a school time journal hidden in the back of her jewelry box? Sadie knew that the only way she would find the answers to these thoughts would be to open the book and read it. But there were so many what ifs. What if it turned out to be that Peter wasn’t really Sadie’s father, and that she was truly a mud-blood instead of just a typical half-blood? Sadie wasn’t sure that she could deal with that, and she was definitely sure that she would never let anyone know the truth if that happened to be it.
Conjuring up a few pillows around her, and digging through her bag for her water bottle, Sadie made herself comfortable on the blanket. A difficult thing to do this close to so many beautiful trees, but Sadie had promised herself that there would be no more tree climbing. You couldn’t meet anyone if you were always up a tree like a bird. Sadie knew that she needed friends in this lifetime, since she had already given up on finding family. They were out there and that was all she needed to know. She had met a cousin, that was enough, at least her father’s family weren’t all dead yet. Sadie let out a deep breath and gently pulled back the front cover of the book. On the inside of the front cover, written on the spine of the book is a small note “To Luisa: Congratulations, Love Grandmamma” Sadie wondered what type of congratulations were in order for such a beautiful present, and then turned the page to begin reading. The diary seems to have started in her mother’s teenage years. It takes Sadie back to the summer when her mother was 13 years old

It’s took me three years now, and a lot of help from friends at school and Grandmamma. But I did it. I showed my family that I’m not the squib that they thought I was going to be. I passed my O.W.L.S. Journal, you shall make a wonderful present from Grandmamma. A Ravenclaw in the family was enough to make most of my family sick, they thought for sure it would ruin the family name and heritage of always being in Slytherin, but they got past that and started thinking I would turn out to be a squib. I knew it couldn’t be true. There was no way. I just had a bit of trouble in school with getting the words right. Mother and her broken Spanish didn’t help either. Why do parents have to pass their curses and treasures both to their children, why can’t they only give their treasures.
Sadie couldn’t believe what she was reading. According to this diary her mother had been a student at Hogwarts, and was a pureblood. How could this be though, Sadie remembered growing up thinking that she was a muggle, that she didn’t have any magical blood in her what so ever, then she found out that she was a half-blood. She thought deeply about the subject, and decided to read more before finding someone who could have possibly been around the school in those years.
