“The fact that I’m not entirely comfortable around Kris has nothing to do with this,” Lita disagreed. “The fact still remains that he and Cleo loved, and still love, each other therefore they were hardly insane for marrying each other. Besides, I’m not as bad as I used to be around your dad. I don’t try to hide behind you anymore, do I? It’s mostly just that...I can never tell if Kris likes me or not. It sounds ridiculous but sometimes I’m so sure he’s plotting my death in evil and unimaginable ways.” Lita flushed shamefully, not really believing she had just said that to Rister but feeling better for letting it out anyway. “Well...I wouldn’t really want six kids anyway since I’ve seen your house during the summer. Needless to say, I admire your mum for putting up with all of you for a whole summer. But no, I wouldn’t be ready to have a child just yet. Life is too hectic at the moment.”
“I highly doubt Adrian meant it as a compliment,” Lita murmured with a soft smile. It would be more truthful to say that Adrian had warned her firmly against considering Rister as a boyfriend, despite her numerous and loud protests that she had better options than her friend, and had tried every method he could think of to ensure that she would stay merely friends with the Slytherin boy. Honestly, Adrian was trying too hard. Lita sighed thoughtfully. Her brother was trying to be both parents and older brother to her because he knew from personal experience how useless they could be but he was mixing up the roles quite awfully. Ah well. He would get it right eventually, and she would make sure he dealt better with his own kids if he ever had any. “Keep dreaming,” Lita rolled her eyes. “I’ve never skipped class before – except History of Magic but that doesn’t even count as a real class - and I don’t plan to start now. And I may be a Ravenclaw but I’m also part Slytherin, remember? I make sure that even if I’m suspected, I’ll never be proven guilty.”
Lita arched an eyebrow slowly, fingering a lock of her hair protectively. “If I ever need something to tie back my hair, I’ll summon something rather than transfigure a twig from the ground into something or some other such nonsense. Not that that would ever happen.” Lita patted her pocket with a strange smile. “I’m always prepared.” All the same, she would stick to Potions, thank you very much Rister, Lita finished mentally. Transfiguration left too many things to chance in a way that Potions didn’t. It was a useful skill, just as Rister had said, but she was decent enough in Transfiguration to get by. “That’s very true about offence being the best defence but I still don’t know how you can apply it to that situation since I don’t prank anyone. Innocent little caterpillar, remember?”
